The Snowy Range snowmobile trail system consist of 5 major trailheads and a handful of secondary trailheads. We have attempted to describe each trailhead and the different riding conditions you may find at each location.

Major Trailheads:

Green Rock

Location/Directions: From Laramie follow Wyoming Highway 130 west through Centennial to the road closure.

Traffic: High: expect a large volume of snowmobiler traffic.

Trailhead Bio: Green Rock trailhead is by far the most popular to snowmobile out of in the Snowy Range. Unloading at Green Rock allows the riders to access most of the mountian with ease. There is an outhouse avalible at the trailhead, it can be wind blown and hard to access at times. Green Rock offers all different types of riding. For those that like to trail ride, you can stay on U trail to access the west side. For those that like to get off trail, both sides of the mountain offer some challanging terrain. Watch your fuel as there is no fuel service near Green Rock.Lodging is also limited in the area so book reservations early.

Pros:

  • It is easy to access via Highway 130.
  • Easy access to most the mountain.
Cons:
  • Parking along the highway create congestion on highway so use caution when loading and unloading.
  • Trip accross Libby Flats can be windy with low visibility.
  • Currently there is not fuel service at the trailhead. The closest fuel is in Centennial.

Albany

Location/Directions: From Laramie follow Wyoming Highway 130 west to Highway 11. When entering Albany there will be a large parking lot on your right.

Traffic: Moderate: expect the parking lot to be near full by 9:30 most mornings.

Trailhead Bio: The second most popular parking spot on the east side of the Snowy Range, Albany offers a large parking area with restrooms. If that is not enough you can walk across the street to Albany Lodge and enjoy an Albany Burger for lunch. There are serveral places to stay near or in Albany including Albany Lodge. Follow the trail west out of Albany for endless trail rides and hidden pockets of adventure riding. Follow Q trail to T and take a trip to Libby Flats for a view of Medicine Bow Peak.

Pros:

  • Designated parking lot $5.00 daily fee.
  • Albany Lodge - Fuel, food and rooms avalible.

Cons:
  • Longer trail rides to access the west side of the Snowy Range.
